Fairview Karate Club opened on 3rd November 2004 and until July 2013 was run by Sensei Kaye Williams. Sensei Mel Kirk has now taken over the club which is open on a Wednesday evening and has 10 -15 students in each lesson ranging from 5 – 16, separated by age and ability. Fairview is a small, friendly club with excellent support from students and parents.
Sensei Mel is a qualified school teacher and started training in 1992 following in the footsteps of the rest of her family. She was awarded her 1st Dan in July 1998, 2nd Dan in February 2006 and her latest grade of 3rd Dan was attained in October 2011. She was the assistant instructor at Fairview for two years before taking over the running of the club in September 2013 and trains at the Lordswood dojo with Sensei Glen Wright.
Sensei Kevin is the assistant instructor and started training with the Chief Instructor Glen Wright in 1986, achieving his 1st Dan in July 1990.
Saturday 18th July - Fairview, St Mary's and Kingshill grading
Wednesday 22nd July - Schools break up, last night training at Fairview dojo until September
Wednesday 29th July and Wednesday 5th August - training at Hempstead dojo
Wednesdays 12th, 19th and 26th August - no training, summer break
Wednesday 2nd September - back training, Fairview dojo
