Fairview Junior School, Drewery Drive, Rainham, Kent ME8 0NU
Fairview Karate Club opened on 3rd November 2004 and until July 2013 was run by Sensei Kaye Williams. Sensei Mel Kirk has now taken over the club which is open on a Wednesday evening and has 15 -20 students in each lesson ranging from 5 – 17, separated by age and ability. Fairview is a small, friendly club with excellent support from students and parents. We are very fortunate to have the support of three adult assistant instructors and also four junior black belts who support the younger pupils in the first lesson and ensure that one to one support is available if required, epecially for our very young karateka.
Sensei Mel is a qualified school teacher and started training in 1992 following in the footsteps of the rest of her family. She was awarded her 1st Dan in July 1998, 2nd Dan in February 2006 and her latest grade of 3rd Dan was attained in October 2011. She was the assistant instructor at Fairview for two years before taking over the running of the club in September 2013 and trains at the Lordswood dojo with Sensei Glen Wright.
Sensei Kevin is one of the assistant instructors and started training with the Chief Instructor Glen Wright in 1986, achieving his 1st Dan in July 1990.
Sensei Will (1st Dan) and Sensei Denize (1st Dan) are also assistant instructors and train with the Chief Instructor Glen Wright at Hempstead and Lordswood clubs.
